Akwaaba...

Akwaaba means 'welcome', which, as in other African cultures, has deeper reaching implications than just hello.
Children of Ghana say Welcome
Another word reveals the singular qualities of the Ga people - Homowo - that says a good deal about their easy-going nature, and defiance in face of their harsh environment and unforgiving climate.

'Homowo' means 'making fun of hunger', and every year Homowo is celebrated as a festival.

'Kedzi Baah enyo miiple loo he le Baah ni tasee le dzi moni nine sheo niyenii le no'

(When two crocodiles fight over a piece of meat, it is the third crocodile that waits and watches, who gets to eat his dinner.)
