gemütlichkeit... Gemütlichkeit is a cosy mixture of music, food and drink; of creating an atmosphere that promotes a sense of belonging and social acceptance. It is as much part of German national identity, or Bavarian, or Swiss-German, as it is Austrian.
Gemütlichkeit has become ingrained in the cultural mythology of German-speaking people. Queen Victoria is said to have been one of the first to use the adjective gemütlich in English.
